I have a clay brick driveway and the very last space is messed up by the tree roots of the oak right next to it. The pavers company suggests to remove all the affected and use a stump grinder to grind down 6-8 inches, add sand to re-level, compact and put the bricks back. If a stump grinder is...
Having a yard filled with huge old Oak and Acorn trees makes for some nice shade, but has it's problems. I've been having problems with the septic tank filling up. That I had to use a Saws All to run an electric line should give you and idea of how thick the roots in my yard are. I went to...
Client has a home with several black corrugated pipes that seem to be totally jammed up. Therefore all water is just overflowing right near the foundation. No good. Anyone ever had any success "toto-rooting" or....any other way to clean these out? Concerned they're packed with roots/dirt/etc...
The way cool part is I can drive over the leach field and or use it for parking, no paving. Runs parallel to my home 30 feet away. Compared to 4" pipe this is the cats meow. I would bet it is impossible for roots to clog up this system. So much more area for absorption into the ground.
I have roots about 10 feet down a 2" sewer pipe. I have a regular spiral bit hand held auger but the bit is not well suited for cutting roots and it's not changeable. I don't want to spend over $100 to buy a large auger, and renting every year seems like a waste. I've been searching for a root...
I would remove whats possible with a chainsaw and use that for firewood, etc. That stump will burn for days. Ive burned small 12-15" stumps and they smolder for days. Yours being loose from the soil may help, but root wood is very dense. You may just want to get it hauled off if you cant supervise it burning.
I have a tree, and then around the tree a brick patio. Roots from the tree and pushing up the bricks from the patio. What is the best solution for this? Thanks!
The roots were at surface or above ground level. Nothing would grow in that area beneath the canopy close to the roots. Even if something were planted and were miraculously to survive, that growth might interfere with your maple's moisture intake and affect that tree's long term survivability.
Roots love water so they will follow the pipe, go through the wax ring and go down the drain searching for it. I agree with you, after you cleared the roots some copper sulfate or root destroyer available at any big box store will do it. I like your idea of packing with root destroyer granules or rock salt sounds like a good idea.
Hey all. Will it kill bushes if I dig a French drain trench in front of bushes cutting through the roots? Is there a certain amount of feet away from them that is better? Thanks a lot.
